The NBA Finals

June 18th, 2008 | Posted in Basketball, Rants, Reviews, Sports

truth
The NBA Finals came to an end last night with the Boston Celtics finishing off the Los Angeles Lakers in six games, 131-92. As lopsided as that score looks, it wasn’t even that close. The team that was formerly nicknamed “Showtime” in the 1980’s, was late for their curtain call, to say the least. LA’s second and third best players shrunk in the spotlight, the bench was horrendous, and the 2008 MVP was taken to the woodshed. It’s asinine to say that Kobe Bryant was a non-factor, because he averaged about 25 a game, but the man shot well under his average, about 40%, which is testament to the Celtics defense.

Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day everyone! I myself am not a father, but I could be. You just don’t know. Hopefully I won’t have to make a visit to The Maury Povich show.

Podcasting

June 12th, 2008 | Posted in Podcasts, Rants, York

I sort of want to make a podcast…but, I’m really boring and not clever. In other words, a Bill Simmons podcast, (hey-ohhh). That’s a reference Eckert won’t get. But, he’ll still think the BS report would be stupid because it’s about sports.

Why am I getting such a wild hair up my arse about a podcast? For some reason, I want to show Mix 103 mastermixer, Mark Jensen, what a great talent I could be for the 15 people that listen to the York radio station. Him and his stupid website and stupid Lloyd designing it with news for a broadcast medium that plays easy listening music 22 hours out of the day.

I think I’ll just stick to my blog…the blog I update once every three months.

700 lb. Man Dreams of Marriage

Fatty Wants to Get Married

You have got to be kidding me people! I guess I could have some sort of compassion or something for a man who weighs 50+ stone, but I think I’m just gonna sit here and wonder why someone wants to pass on the genes of a horribly obese man. There are days when our species gets stronger, like when the Jiffy Lube catches fire or a wreck ends up in the infield at a NASCAR race, but more often then not, stupid people procreate. Kill me now.

L-Town Bonanza

Went to Lincoln today to update the ol’ wardrobe. I’m pretty sure that I needed it. I had texted a friend of mine and told her about my day, she responded to me and this is verbatim, “You bought new clothes? What for?” I guess I’ve never been one to have a giant variety of outfits.

Finally! Somebody said SOMETHING!

I hate College Basketball and Rules for Being a True Fan

February 13th, 2008 | Posted in Basketball, Sports

It’s ironic that I’m writing this blog in February. Bill Simmons, half of the inspiration for this entry, wrote a column describing his take on Rules for Being a True Fan back in 2001. The other half of the inspiration is since college basketball is getting into full swing, I have friends on my Facebook who are willing to devote time out of their lives to talking about college basketball during a month that doesn’t end in -arch.
