Whales are between the most brilliant marine mammals on earth. The blue whale is the biggest animal to ever before exist. In spite of this history, industrial whaling has actually left the whale varieties remarkably endangered. Thankfully, whaling has actually been ended in lots of nations, however still exists in some. The impact of this continued whaling endangers the existence of the species, and if not stopped, could wipe out whales.
One country in particular that has been engaging in this inhumane and immoral task against nature is Japan. Large whale angling vessels have been dispatched around the marines of Japan, mainly in the western Pacific Ocean, to hunt down innocent whales and gather their meat and additional parts to be utilized for oil, fertilizer, perfume, shampoo, cleaning agent, gelatin, margarine and other products. Regardless of the usages it can easily bring, these living creatures ought to not have to pay their lives simply for this senseless reason.
One organization has really objected to this wrongful activity and has aimed to save the whales from near extinction. The Sea Shepherd is an worldwide non-profit organization that was founded last 1977. As stated in their mission statement, the organization aims to stop the damage of the marine habitat and the slaughter of fauna around the globe’s oceans in order to protect and safeguard the species and ecosystems.
Ocean Shepherd has motorboats and crews and go out to intervene throughout whale hunts. This is a unsafe and life-threatening undertaking for Ocean Shepherd’s companies, however they go on to go to save the whales from slaughter. As recently as 2010, 3 Sea Shepherd ships intervened
against unlawful whaling tasks and one boat was purposely rammed and sunk by the Eastern. When the captain attempted to serve an invoice upon the Japanese for his sunken boat, he was taken to a Oriental prison. The Marine Shepherd’s remaining crews were not prevented and followed the Eastern fleets for 3 weeks, and not one single whale was killed throughout that time.
The illegal whale hunts have actually not stopped. More wants to be done to eradicate whaling before the animals is totally reduced. Sea Shepherd is committed to this fight. Visit Sea Shepherd to learn more.

Humpback whales nest in the volcanic caves of the Pacific deep sea trenches, and give birth to live young in nests of seaweed deep within their caves, away from predators.

“Whales can see very well under the water, but, above the surface they cannot see well at all. Even under water they cannot see far if the water is dirty and murky. Therefore, they depend on their keen sense of hearing. Sounds travel faster in the water than the air, so whales hear sounds quickly, and from far off.” http://planet-pets.com/plntwale.htm There is also some new evidence that humpback whales use echolocation to “see” what is around them. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/09/070901084549.htm Taste and touch are also important ways for whales to understand their surroundings. Sense of smell isn’t a factor, since they breath air and can’t smell anything in the water.

They see the same way we do – with their eyes. Whales rely more on hearing and smell to move around, especially when they’re deep enough that there’s no light, but they see better than we do in shallow water.

I used to work as an Environmental Educator on a whale watching boat. Estimates are anywhere between 40 and 80 years but I am not sure that anyone knows for certain. If you phrase your answer to include the 40-80 year estimate and add a note about the research you have done then your teacher will have to accept it as a good an answer as another.
