Removing dairy from diet as possible food allergen? My specialist doc has asked me to keep a food journal for 6 months. It’s in an effort to find what food allergen I have – he ruled out wheat. I decided to try removing dairy from the daily foods I eat. How long before I notice any difference if this is indeed the food I’m having a reaction to?

Have you even had an allergy test, yet? You should really be tested before you go through an elimination diet. You find out what you’re allergic to, and then you avoid it for a month or more. You see if your symptoms resolve and then when you bring it back in, see if they begin again. Of course you don’t have to have the testing but I really recommend it. You should see an allergist as most ‘regular’ doctors see it fit for you to just do the diet. It doesn’t really work like that. But anyways, you should notice within the first few weeks. You’ll go through withdrawal and once that resolved you should feel better. If you don’t, it’s something else.

I’ve tried it and I don’t find that it makes that much of a difference. I am not very good at keeping up with it though.

Excellent idea! After every meal write what you just ate and review at the end of the day!

Of course not. Have fun being healthy and watching what you eat while everyone else wallows in self pity.

That’s a really good thing! Don’t get obsessive about it obviously, but it’s not bad at all! People get all defensive and discouraging about stuff like that, but I think it’s generally their own insecurities coming out. Keep it up =)

Keeping a food journal is a good idea, but I’ve not been successful at doing it either. I’m just too busy. So you should just focus on healthy eating. Balance your carbs, protein and fats. To see what I mean, go to this website http://healthychoices4life.com/healthy-eating-guidelines.html where it explains more. Good Luck to you.

Im confused by my online food journal. Please help? I started working out more about a week ago, and i take multivitamins and diet pills. I already started eating better, but today i started an online food journal. After all the food and excercise i did, it told me that i ate 1221 calories and burned 1291 calories. But it said based on a 2000 calorie count, that i was under 2077 calories. Im pretty sure thats a good thing but it was confusing how they worded it and their math that they did. If its good, i would like to continue doing that. How much weight would i lose in a week if i continued doing that. I know it depends on height and weight, which i am 5 foot 8 inches, and 237 pounds. Thanks in advance for the advice!
